WHAT IS THE KICKSTART OFFERING?

To launch this one-year giving campaign, we will be receiving a special, Kickstart Offering on Sunday, December 11. This one-time gift is essential to the success of the Discovery Phase and will help NewCo begin the initial feasibility studies in 2023.

SHOULD I REDIRECT MY REGULAR GIVING TO THE CAMPAIGN?

We are inviting every to ask God how they can give above and beyond their regular giving for this initiative. If you are not yet giving, God may be asking you to begin regularly giving your tithes and offerings to His work through New Community.

Regardless of how much you give, your generosity could make a big difference. See the following chart:

WHERE ARE WE LOOKING?

We recognize there is a significant need for more churches specifically focused on the communities along the Brook Rd Corridor from Virginia Center Commons up to Ashland. Our desire is to have a space that is easily accessible to you and your neighbors in that area.

WHEN WILL WE MOVE INTO A PERMANENT SPACE?

We are still very early in this process, and it is very unlikely that we will move into a different facility in 2023. However, we can imagine us being in a more permanent space and beginning the first phases of this dream within the next few years. Ultimately, the timeline is determined by God, and our desire is to be ready when He is ready.

WILL WE DO THIS IN PHASES?

Yes! We recognize that having a phased-approach will make it more obtainable as we work together to see this dream fulfilled. This may include long-term lease options in a different facility or purchasing an existing property or land before we build. These options will be explored during the Discovery Phase.

WILL WE COMBINE BOTH LOCATIONS INTO ONE?

Though anything is possible, at this time we feel fully committed to God’s work at both Glen Allen and Ashland. We want to use this time to prayerfully explore what it could look like to find expressions of Our Place to Call Home in both localities.

IS THERE FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY IN PLACE?

Yes. New Community has an Executive Board which oversees and routinely reviews all of the financial stewardship of the church. In additional, there are boundaries in place which remove the staff from having direct access to any of New Community’s financial accounts.

ARE THERE WAYS TO GIVE OTHER THAN CASH DONATIONS?

Yes, New Community has the means to receive donations of stock, bonds, real estate, and more. To find out more about creative ways to give, view our Year-End Giving Guide or contact the New Community office at team@wordpress-553812-3452002.cloudwaysapps.com.

WHAT PRACTICAL STEPS ARE PLANNED FOR THE NEXT YEAR?

In 2023, we hope to begin our initial feasibility studies. This would include expenses like:

  • Architectural consultation and design renderings
  • Development consultation, researching ground-up vs. repurposing opportunities
  • Capital strategy consultations
