Every August, we hit the reset button on our souls with 15 Days of Prayer. This year we’re focusing on how to seek the Lord in our hearts, homes and communities with a 15-Day Prayer Walking Challenge.

15 Day Prayer Walking Challenge

What could God do with a praying you? We’re challenging every one of us to find an intentional way to pray every day this week. Your YES could change your life. While there are countless ways to accept this challenge, here are a few ideas to get you started:

  1. Prayer Walk Your School, Your Job, or Your Neighborhood
  2. Target Specific Areas such as Brook Road, VCC or Downtown Ashland.
  3. Host worship nights with your family, neighbors or small group.
  4. Join our Prayer Team every Sunday during the 15 Days of Prayer, and pray over all of our adult and kids spaces 30 minutes before services begin.

PRAYER WALKING GUIDE

PRAY WITH PRAISE

Offer words of praise to God or listen to a few songs that help you praise God. Thank God for what He’s already doing in the place you are walking. Acknowledge that he is there with you and Thank Him for what He will reveal and speak.

I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.
Psalm 34:1

PRAY SCRIPTURE

Carry a copy of God’s Word with you as you prayer-walk. Read it out loud, and declare God’s promises and will over the area you are walking. God may lead you to specific scriptures to pray, but here are some prayers to begin with:

The Lord’s Prayer: Matthew 6:9–13
Prayer for Believers: John 17
Prayer for the Full Life: Ephesians 1:15–23
Prayer for Spiritual Wisdom and Understanding: Colossians 1:9–12
Prayer for Spiritual Victory: Ephesians 6

PRAY IN OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S LEADING

Learn to recognize and respond to His voice as you prayer walk. Trust that God will lead you in what you see, hear and experience. God may even direct you with ideas of prayer gestures, i.e. kneeling down, laying hands on a building, joining hands in unity, etc. He may also give insight into spiritual strongholds you can pray against.

When he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
John 16:13

PRAY FOR OTHERS

Pray over those you see, asking for God’s blessing over them. Pray that Christians already in this place would be bold, have faith, and be courageous. Pray for people in power, that they would follow the way of Jesus.

May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.
Numbers 6:24-26

PRAY FOR VISION

Ask God to show you what revival would look like in your area. Ask Him to reveal fresh words of purpose and vision for your life. Write down anything you see or feel.

Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.
Psalm 143:8
