Raising the Next Generation

We believe the next generation isn’t just the future of the church. They are a vital part of what God is doing right now! That’s why we’re passionate about creating environments where kids can know God, grow in their faith, and discover the full life He has for them. At NewCo, we don’t just care for kids. We invest in them, because we believe what happens early can shape a lifetime.

We create safe, fun, and age-appropriate environments where kids can be themselves while discovering who God is. Through engaging lessons, meaningful relationships, and interactive experiences, we help kids grow in their faith and learn what it means to love God and love people in a real and lasting way.

PRE-REGISTER YOUR KIDS

HOW DOES NEW KIDS WORK?

Tinies ( 6 weeks - 2 Years )

As you walk your child to their classroom, a NEW KIDS Team member will meet you at the door to welcome your child, receive your child’s diaper, and any other necessary items you may have. You may place your diaper bag outside the room, against the wall. Please inform nursery volunteers of any specific instructions you may have for your child.

After you have completed the check-in process and taken your child to his or her room, wave a quick good-bye, and head into the worship service. As you know, it is common for little ones to cry when a parent leaves. This, typically, does not last long. Separation will become easier over time. Our leaders will immediately engage your child in a toy or activity and ensure your child that you will return soon. If your child cries for an extended period of time, we will text you through our check-in system requesting you come meet us at your child’s classroom.

Necessary Items
When packing a diaper bag for your child, please include the following items:

Two or three disposable diapers
An extra change of clothes
A bottle of milk, formula, juice or water
Please label all personal items (including pacifiers and bottles/ sippy cups) with your child's first and last name before arriving at your child's class. This helps know which items belong to your child.

Snacks
Snacks are provided for our crawlers and walkers. The food items consist of Gerber Graduate Puffs. Again, please inform the check-in team of any allergies during the check-in process.

Allergy alerts will be entered into our check-in system and displayed on your child’s name tag.

Curriculum
We believe that even our littlest ones can learn about the love of Christ! Regular learning experiences are planned and lessons are reinforced with songs, Bible thoughts, and supervised activities designed with the ability of your child in mind.

Pick-up Procedure
When the time comes to pick up your child, please return to the appropriate room and present your security tag to the nursery volunteer at the door. The tag will be matched to your child’s name tag before he/she will be released into your care. A child will not be able to leave the room with a parent, without the presentation of the security tag. In the event you lose your security tag, you will be asked to show proper identification before your child is returned to you. Please make sure that you have all of your child’s belongings with you before you leave.

Child Dedication Service
New Community Church observes child dedication. This is a special time when parents thank God for a precious new life and pledge themselves to follow the Lord’s leadership in the development of their child. PRESCHOOL ( 3-5 YEARS )

Opening Activities
Preschoolers are encouraged to participate in opening activities such as working a puzzle or reading a book. The teacher will use these activities to reinforce Biblical truths each week.

Gathering for Group Time
Each classroom will have fun with songs and games to help the preschoolers prepare for story time. Prayer is always a part of our group time.

Story Time
Orange is a video based curriculum we use to teach your preschooler Bible stories in a clear and meaningful way by using animation to appeal to each child’s imagination. They will learn basic Biblical truths that can be applied in their preschool realm, all while having fun! Bible verses, songs, and games are also used to emphasize the theme and focus of the lesson.

Snack
A snack will be provided for your preschooler. The snack for 3 to 5 year olds consists of goldfish and water. Please inform check-in personnel of any allergies during the check-in process. Allergy alerts will be entered into the check-in system and displayed on your child’s name tag.

Heading Home
When you pick up your child from class, please be sure to take your child’s take-home bag which will be located outside of the room. This will have your child’s belongings, color sheets, craft, and take-home Parent Cue page. The teacher will check your security tag and your child's name tag for a match before placing the preschooler into your care. A child will not be able to leave the room without the presentation of the security tag. In the event you lose your security tag, you will be asked to show proper identification before your child may leave with you.

Family Time: “Parent Cue Take Home Sheet”
Each child will receive an activity page that highlights what they learned in their class this week. On this sheet, there are suggestions for you as a family for you to continue the conversation and help your child to continue to grow. This interaction with your child can be very rewarding for the both of you.

Elementary ( K -5TH Grade )

Game Stations & Group Game
Upon entering the doors, your child will notice several game stations throughout the room. It is our responsibility to make your child feel welcome, loved and at home while they are in New Kids. While your child is enjoying the game stations, a leader will be sure to connect with them to make sure they are engaged in the game, playing with the other children, and building relationships.

Worship Experience
New Kids begins every service with a three song worship set. This set includes two upbeat praise songs and one worship song. We highly encourage the kids to give God their “all” during the worship song; at the same time, we allow them to worship God in the style that meets their comfort level. After the third song, the worship leader or service leader will open in prayer.

Core Values & Memory Verse
In New Kids, there are four core values that mirror the beliefs of New Community Church. Below are the values we communicate to the children every Sunday:

Love God. We love God because God is love and He first loved us. Luke 10:27, John 3:16
Love People. We love people because God loves ALL people! Luke 10:27, John 13:34
Do Your Best. Do your best and God does the rest! Philippians 4:13, 1 Corinthians 10:31
Have Fun! Have fun because God gives you joy! Acts 13:52, Romans 14:17

Each New Kids series features a memory verse. The children work on the same verse during the series to really have it in their mind and their heart!

Object Lesson, Video Curriculum & Salvation Prayer
An object lesson introduces the main point to your child by using a concrete visual and allows them to grasp and remember the lesson for the day. Each New Kids curriculum consists of a Biblical story and a themed lesson. When the video is finished, the service leader will come to the front and recap the video lesson. Reiterating the lesson reminds the kids how important it is to use what they’ve learned in their own lives. Once the main point has been summed up, we will ask the kids if they want to receive the gift that God has for them.

Small Groups
Once the salvation prayer is complete, children divide into small groups. We begin each group with prayer. During small group, we focus on prayer and connection questions. Prayer is one of the big wins for the small group time! Small group questions will be gone over to talk more about the Bible story they learned. At this point we are purposefully working on developing a relationship with your child.

Heading Home
When you come to pick up your child, please have your security tag visible. For the protection of your child, you will not be allowed inside the auditorium without it. When picking your child up from small group, please be sure to keep your tag visible for the check-out line. The teacher will check your security tag and your child's name tag for a match before allowing you to leave with your child. A child will not be able to leave the room without the presentation of the security tag. In the event you lose your security tag, you will be asked to show proper identification before your child may leave with you.

CHILD DEDICATION

Baby and Child Dedication is a ceremony when parents and family commit their child before the Lord and pledge their desire to raise them up in God’s ways and will. Its an act of worship where parents recognize their child is a gift of God’s grace and commit to caring for it as if it was God’s own. It is also a moment where the church community has the opportunity to stand with you and affirm our commitment to serving your children and their faith.

While we do not sprinkle or christen young children at New Community, this ceremony is modeled after the biblical traditions of Hannah's dedication of her child Samuel and even Mary and Joseph's dedication of Jesus. During our worship experience, family's are invited to stand before the church to make their commitment.
